Our latest DeShayes Dream Court was installed using pervious sports panels.
2.3’ x 2.3’ x 1.25” modular sport panels were installed over top of an encapsulated storage and recharge area for rainwater to provide a level playing surface while still allowing water to properly drain through and recharge into the ground.
A pervious surface allows water to percolate into the ground rather than becoming runoff.
Our modular subbase flooring system provides a high-performance stable base while promoting water drainage. Most towns only allow a certain amount of surface area to be covered. This is mostly due to their concerns over flooding. A flat non-permeable surface can send water runoff into the street or neighboring properties, low lying areas and other people’s homes. By installing a permeable playing surface, you can be sure your new Deshayes Dream Court will put more water back into the ground than the same area of lawn.
Pervious: allowing water to pass through; permeable
All towns in New Jersey consider grass as pervious. When there is a major storm anywhere between 1 inch and 5 inches of rain can come down in an hour. Your lawn will not allow all this rain to pass through into the ground. A certain percentage of this rainwater will runoff. That percentage is called a runoff coefficient. During these storm events our panels allow more rainwater to pass through into the ground and less water to runoff the surface than grass.
Logic would dictate that if grass is considered pervious and our court panels allow more water to run through the panels and less water to run off the panels these panels should be considered pervious as well.
